BAL HARBOUR & SURFSIDE

Welcome to Bal Harbour & Surfside

Beachfront luxury and style in a private Florida enclave

Gourmet cuisine, designer fashion, and a secluded beach lifestyle attract people to Bel Harbour. Originally called Bay Harbour, the village changed Bay to Bal to represent the two bodies of water that border the island, the Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. There are resorts and condominiums on the Atlantic side of the island and a gated community with single-family homes on the bayside that is so exclusive even Google cannot map it.

Surfside is Bal Harbour’s neighbor to the south. It is an affluent area and home to the iconic Surf Club. At one time, the club hosted celebrities like Frank Sinatra and dignitaries like Winston Churchill. Today, luxury high-rises line the beach, and single-family homes are located in the west section of town. Both Bal Harbour and Surfside are quiet areas offering a slower-paced lifestyle. When residents feel the allure of a big city, they can head south to Miami Beach or the mainland.

Surfside is home to the Four Seasons Hotel at the Surf Club and the Grand Beach Hotel Surfside, where locals go for incredible entertainment. Several blocks in Surfside serve as the town’s walkable commercial district. Numerous shops and restaurants line the area, providing world-class retail and culinary options. The town also sponsors a shuttle service that connects residents to the Miami Beach Trolley system.

Locals can walk the area’s tranquil beaches and around the neighborhood, but they must drive to run errands or get from one place to another in town. Art and culture are prized in the community. There are art exhibitions on display in different sections of town. The community boasts events such as galas, fashion shows, and soirees throughout the year.

Locals love and appreciate living in Surfside. The Surfside Community Center is the central focus of the community and features swimming pools, fitness classes, and a cafe. Families with young children flock to the area’s parks, which are used as locations for popular festivals and community events like monthly block parties or beach picnics in the summer. The people of Surfside appreciate art and are environmentally conscious. The highly-anticipated Turtle Walk draws attention to the town’s Loggerhead sea turtle nesting grounds through sculptures painted by local artists that line the historic district.
